YUSIFU CEESAY’S fourth minute header was enough to see Hereford beat Brackley - their third win in four league games.

Hereford opened the scoring when Ceesay’s header snuck past goalkeeper Daniel Lewis and it proved to be decisive as Brackley were unable to convert their possession into chances.

Just four minutes had elapsed when a quickly taken free-kick found Ceesay inside the box whose glancing header beat Lewis to give the Bulls an early lead.

Curtis Pond was called into action for the first time in the eighth minute when a Brackley header from a corner was directed goalwards with number one there to save down low.

Pond was required again two minutes later when Danny Newtown rifled an effort towards goal, requiring a good save from the Hereford shot stopper to preserve the scoreline.

Brackley came close to levelling the score in the 23rd minute when Newton managed to get a foot to George Carline’s shot, directing it towards goal but just wide of the post.

A free-kick just outside the Brackley box in the 33rd minute saw Ceesay try and catch Lewis out from a tight angle at his near post but he was alert enough to deny the goal-scorer.

The second half saw Hereford continuing to look a threat on the counter and Ceesay nearly added a second after Ricardo Calder had given the ball away but he was denied by the legs of Lewis.

Ceesay was in the thick of the action again in the 71st minute when his cross found Adam Rooney in the box, whose header struck the post before being cleared by Brackley.

A minute later it was Ollie Southern’s turn to come close to adding a second as Adam Livingstone’s cross found the defender in the box but his header drifted just wide of the goal.

Pond was on hand to make an important save in the 89th minute when Tommy O’Sullivan’s deflected cross looped over him before recovering to tip the ball over the crossbar.
