THE only Worcester RFC senior team to win last weekend was the Women's side, as they battled to a bonus-point victory at Buckingham Swans Ladies.

In their Women's Championship North 1 contest, the visitors ran out 38-17 winners to record their first win of the 2023/24 season.

It has been a difficult start to the campaign for Worcester, but confidence will have been boosted by a fine display against a side above them in the table.

Elsewhere, it was defeat for the Worcester 1s, but there was no lack of heart in their 15-34 loss to league leaders Newent.

The visitors entered the Regional 2 Midlands West contest with nine wins from nine, including six bonus-point victories. But they were made to work by a Worcester side that dug in and fought until the end.

It was their seventh defeat in a row but plenty of positives will have been taken from pushing the top team in the division.

It was a similarly disappointing afternoon for the Worcester Men 2s, who lost 17-5 to Tamworth.

The Men's Mixed Abilities team suffered the heaviest defeat of the weekend as they were well beaten by their Alcester counterparts.

There was also one stand out result in the youth set-up as the Worcester U16 girls won 17-15 against Shipston on Stour in the National Cup.
