A BATTLING performance saw Hereford FC earn a point on the road after a 0-0 draw with Farsley Celtic.

In a contest which saw both sides unable to find a cutting-edge Jason Cowley almost won it for the Bulls late on when his header was goal bound but Zan-Luk Leban denied the striker.

Farsley Celtic’s Joao Silva tried his luck from distance in the first minute but Curtis Pond was there to make a comfortable save.

The Celts had an opportunity to open the scoring when the ball fell to Dylan Youmbi inside the 18-yard box but the striker was unable to get a clean connection on his effort.

Hereford were looking to break a run of three defeats in four on the road and Yusifu Ceesay fired a rasping shot towards goal from 25 yards out which threatened to nestle into the top corner, before sailing inches wide of the post.

With the game goal-less at the break Paul Caddis’ side started the second half on the front foot and Ethan Freemantle had an effort at goal after pressure from the away side saw them win the ball back, but his effort was over the crossbar.

At the opposite end a long ball forward towards Silva shortly after the restart saw the forward nearly latch onto it but Pond was on hand to rush off his goal line and sweep up, clearing the ball up field.

Youmbi threatened for Farsley again in the 66th minute but his low driven effort from inside the box was saved by the legs of Pond.

Hereford were also pushing for a winner and Alex Babos’ free-kick in the 83rd was knocked down inside the area and nearly found the red shirt of Paul Downing but a Farsley boot was there to clear the ball away at the last moment.

The Bulls went close again in the 86th minute when Jordan Cranston found Cowley at the back post but Farsley goalkeeper Leban was on hand to tip over the striker's header.

Adam Ronney would have one final chance for Hereford sending his header wide from a Babos cross.
