STUNNING strikes from Lassana Mendes and Jason Cowley helped Hereford come from behind to earn a third consecutive victory.

Lebrun Mbeka’s header had put Spennymoor in front before Mendes rifled the ball home to level the scores, and in injury time, Cowley bent the ball into the top corner of the net to complete the comeback.

Mendes and Cowley linked up well in the 16th minute when the former’s cross found the striker at the back post, but his subsequent header was blocked at the last moment.

Alex Babos’ cross two minutes later found Ollie Southern inside the box, with his flicked header landing inches wide of James Montgomery’s right-hand post.

Spennymoor took the lead in the 28th minute when a quickly taken corner from Mark Anderson landed on the head of Mbeka who directed his effort into the top corner of Curtis Pond’s net.

Hereford had an opportunity to equalise five minutes before the break when Yusifu Ceesay found himself one-on-one with Montogomery but his effort was saved by the legs of the goalkeeper.

Paul Caddis’ side returned after the break with renewed energy and nearly equalised when Cowley’s diving header required saving before Ceesay dragged the rebound wide.

The Bulls had their 56th minute equaliser when Mendes’ rifled strike from outside the area flew into the top corner with pinpoint precision and past helpless Montgomery.

As Hereford went searching for a winner, Nathan Cameron made contact with a Babos corner but could only direct his header over the crossbar.

Andy Williams, returning after a lengthy injury, then flicked Babos’ corner goalwards with eight minutes remaining before it was cleared off the line by the recovering Spennymoor defence.

With time running out, a neat turn from Cowley saw the striker caress the ball into the top right-hand corner of Montgomery's net in the 91st minute to complete a memorable comeback.
