THE Hellenic League Premier encounter between Worcester City and Thornbury Town has been postponed.

The pitch was inspected by the match officials this afternoon (Tuesday February 13) and deemed unplayable after the heavy rain throughout the day.

The game will now be rearranged for another date as yet another match falls foul of the weather for City, who are already four games back from title rivals Corsham Town in the league.

With the season scheduled to be all done by the start of April, the games are now mounting up for Chris Cornes' men, who remain in both league cups and the Isuzu FA Vase on top of their league campaign.

They are next in action on Saturday when they welcome strugglers Longlevens to Claines Lane, where they will be looking to maintain their winning run. City, who progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Vase following at 5-1 win at Stourport Swifts on Saturday, have won 10 games in a row in all competitions, including five consecutive victories in the league.

Longlevens, like Thornbury Town and Lydney, whom they beat 6-0 at Claines Lane the weekend before last, are scrapping down at the bottom of the table and will be desperate for what would be a shock result this weekend. They sit 16th in the division with 27 points from their 25 games.

Despite losing seven of their last 10, they have beaten Fairford Town on two occasions, a side that has gone unbeaten against both City and Corsham this season.
