WORCESTER City Women are to celebrate International Women's Day in style next week when they host Knowle Ladies under the Sixways lights.

City will be hoping to move a step closer to the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League title when they face Knowle, with the league leaders sitting five points clear at the summit with six games to play.

But the game will also be marking a special occasion. The evening aims to celebrate women's football and showcase the team's dedication to promoting the sport in the local community.

Under the leadership of Worcester-born Nicole Allison, the club has gone from strength to strength and Friday will also be a celebration of her time in charge with it being three years since she took over her home-town club, making it one of the few female-owned football clubs in the country.

"This International Women's Day match is a testament to our commitment to advancing the women's game and putting Worcester on the map for women's football, all while creating memorable experiences for our fans and the residents of Worcester," said Allison.

"Three years since taking over the club have flown by with many successes along the way and we feel this match is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the club’s growth, talent and passion on this special occasion."

There will also be a special guest amongst those in attendance on Friday. Gladiator TV star and Worcester City Women FC alumni Livi Sheldon will be available for meet and greet and photos before and after the game.

Tickets start from £1 for children, £3 for students and over 65s and £5 for adults. Family tickets are available for two adults and two kids for just £10. To buy yours, click here.
