DROITWICH Spa maintained their unbeaten league run with a record victory over AFC Bridgnorth on Saturday afternoon.

Spa registered their biggest-ever win at Step 6 with an 8-1 thrashing of strugglers Bridgnorth at The Kingys.

Josh Hurdman opened the scoring with a fabulous first-time volley from 20-yards into Jack Breckell's top corner on 12 minutes.

Six minutes later and Breckell was picking the ball out of his net again as Cory Rudd's powerful low drive from 30-yards out flew into the bottom corner, and just two minutes later, he had a brace when heading home from close range.

It was 4-0 on 25 minutes when James Lemon turned his marker and finished well from eight yards out.

Bridgnorth had suffered an upheaval of their playing personnel over the last eight days but pulled one back on 38 minutes via captain Chris Sterling's penalty.

Spa soon regained their four-goal advantage when Perry Moss got on the scoresheet with a simple tap-in.

The second half continued in a similar fashion. Hurdman scored his second of the afternoon to make it 6-1 on 50 minutes with a simple header from just two yards out.

Substitute Lucas Edmonds scored his first senior goal for the Saltmen on 65 minutes with a cheeky chip over Breckell and with 10 minutes remaining, youngster Woody Hawkett scored his first senior goal for Spa.

For Droitwich, who have the best home record in the Division, it was a sixth successive game unbeaten which lifts the Saltmen six points clear of the sides chasing the play-offs, with games in hand.
