Leach and Claytor inspire Nomads

SKIPPER Andy Leach and teenager Alex Claytor guided Worcester Nomads Seconds to an eight-wicket win at Worcester.

Nomads moved up to fourth in Crusader Worcestershire League Division One with the 24-point success thanks to a solid performance.

The visitors lost the toss and were asked to bowl, claiming George Bailey for a quick duck to Neil Thompson.

Chris Genever (49) and Nick Brown (32) boosted Worcester but a steady trickle of wickets fell.

Oli Butterworth (4-39), Tareq Jamil (3-47) and Thompson (2-56) helped dismiss the hosts for 196 in the 48th over.

Nomads’ openers Dave Finbow and Claytor were positive from the start and gave Worcester many problems.

Finbow fell to Worcester captain Dormston Cook for nine but 16-year-old Claytor played a selection of sensible, hard-hitting shots to speed the run-chase along.

Leach (69 not out) joined him and Claytor raced to his first second XI half-century before being bowled by Cook for 51.

But the captain and Matt Ormerod (19no) finished the job in the 34th over against a youthful attack.
