A HOST of youngsters attended a special one-day hockey training camp to hone their skills.
The annual hockey fun festival, organised by Worcester City Council and Worcester Hockey Club, involved 25 children and followed on from a six-week coaching programme delivered by Janet Taylor.
The budding hockey players were taught the ins and outs of passing, defending, tackling and scoring, before taking part in games to put their new skills into practice.
Throughout the festival, officials from Worcester Hockey Club were on the look-out for possible stars of the future.
Special honours went to Jack Portman (achievement award), Callum Stanley (top player), James Heggerty, Oliver Gore, Jessica Hetherington and Samuel Getheridge (all team player awards).
All participants on the day received certificates, club information and key rings, while the lucky award-winners walked away with a free hockey stick.
Peter MacKenzie-Shaw, sports development officer for the city council, said “The festival was a great success.”
