HEREFORD Racecourse host their first meeting under British Harness Racing Club rules on Sunday.
Eighty horses will be doing battle in the eight races and entries have been received from all over the UK.
National leading driver Alan Haythornthwaite will make the journey from Lancashire, and is delighted to have the opportunity of competing on the hurdle course.
As harness racehorses traditionally race to the left, usually on half-mile circuits, the right-handed course and long straights at Hereford will be a real novelty.
“If this meeting goes well, it could be the start of more fixtures at this and other Northern Racing courses,” said Katie Stephens, clerk of the Hereford course.
The first race of Sunday’s meeting is at 2pm and gates will open to the public at midday.
