Diffin ends 63-year ace wait

BOB Diffin hit a hole-in-one at Evesham GC’s prestigious Golf Club Bowl.

Diffin crafted his moment of magic at the par-three ninth for his first hole-in-one in 63 years of trying.

The annual competition was played in beautiful conditions in a par/bogey format.

The scoring was tight but the winner by one shot was 15-handicapper Stuart Walding, who carded five over par.

Alan Askew was next, a shot further back, along with Mike Whiteford and Keith Morris.

The quintet of Phil Wheeler, Hwyel Jones, Matt Langmead, Lewis Dolphin and Dan Haines all shot three over.

There were 11 players on two over par — John Payne, John Reid, Graham Hughes, Neville Ashman, Ken Hunt, Frank Hanley, Tony Smith, Glen Webb, Ryan Cleary, James Attwood and George Parker.
