WORCESTER Warriors’ pre-season friendly with Moseley at Sixways on Saturday, August 23 (3pm) will also be long-serving prop forward Tony Win-do’s testimonial match.
Warriors legend Windo retired from the game at the end of last season after a long and distinguished career that saw him make 225 appearances for Worcester.
Windo has since joined the club’s coaching staff as assistant forwards coach and is looking forward to sharing his big day with the Sixways faithful.
“I am delighted to be having this game at the club," said Windo. “It will be a very emotional day for me and I plan to savour every moment. I hope the fans can share in this special occasion.”
Director of rugby Mike Ruddock gave his backing to the match, adding: “Tony is a loyal servant of Worcester Warriors and I cannot think of a more fitting tribute than to have this game to honour him.
“It also gives the fans the opportunity to once again show their admiration and appreciation for such a well re-spected player.”
Warriors chairman Cecil Duckworth said: “Tony is one of Worcester’s true professionals. We look forward to hosting this game on behalf of his testimonial committee in honour of Tony’s illustrious career.”
The match will be Worcester’s only home game in their build up to the 2008/09 Guinness Premiership season.
Limited parking will be available on the day of the game on a first come, first served basis and fans are advised the game will have a restricted capacity due to development work on the East Stand.
As it is a testimonial, the club are hoping for donations of £10 per adult and £5 for children for entrance to the match.
