MICHAEL McGrath is hoping both Worcester City and Kidderminster Harriers can benefit from his time at St George’s Lane.

The 22-year-old midfielder is on a three-month loan at City after having his initial one-month deal extended 24 hours before the 1-0 defeat against Tamworth in the FA Cup.

McGrath made his debut in the 3-1 victory at Welling the previous weekend and looks set to be a regular fixture in manager Richard Dryden’s plans.

He now wants to help City climb the Blue Square South table, starting today against AFC Wimbledon at the Lane, and is determined to show Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates that he still has a future at Aggborough.

McGrath said: “I am there for three months instead of the initial one which I think is better for me because I get more time to get games under my belt.

“I have played two games and they are the first 90 minutes I have played since pre-season. It’s a chance to get playing again and get in the shop window.

“My aim is to play well and do my best for Worcester and show Mark Yates that I can go back and do a job there. If not, somewhere else, but it’s a chance to show what I can do on the pitch.”

McGrath has played both of his City games to date on the left of a three-man midfield in a 4-3-3 system but says he prefers to operate in the centre of the park, a position in which boss Dryden currently has several options.

The former Redditch player, though, is just happy to be involved again and is raring to prove himself at the Lane.

He said: “I look forward to playing in all games, I just want to be playing week in, week out. ”
