HEREFORD United are looking to build on their first away point of the season when they host Carlisle United in Coca-Cola League One tonight (7.45).

The Bulls held Brighton and Hove Albion to a 0-0 draw at the Withdean Stadium on Saturday to end a run of five straight defeats on the road.

The Edgar Street side are still bottom of the table, one point behind Yeovil Town, but host the Blues in the first of two home games in four days — Stockport visit at the weekend — as they attempt to haul themselves clear.

Manager Graham Turner says the players have been bouyed by their south coast exploits and want to register their second home win of the campaign tonight.

He said: “In training yesterday, you could see the players were a lot happier with themselves and we hope to take that forward into the Carlisle game.

“It’s a tough task. They had a good campaign last season but have found the going difficult so far and we have got to take advantage of that.

“It was important we got our first away point and that, in the light of the Oldham performance and result, we gave a disciplined display.

“I was pleased to get a point but we had opportunities to have made it all three. I was pleased with the level of discipline and shape in the side which we have been lacking in recent games.”

Carlisle drew 3-3 at home to Peterborough on Saturday after throwing away a 3-1 lead and conceding a 94th-minute equaliser.

However, John Ward’s side have not won for six league games following a dismal run which stretches back to September 6.

Hereford have no fresh injury concerns in the wake of the Brighton match, while Carlisle striker Danny Graham could feature after recovering from a knee injury.
