MANAGER Paul West says he is “chuffed” to have committed his future to Evesham United.

The Robins boss, who took over from Dave Busst in February 2006, has signed a two-year rolling contract with the British Gas Business Premier Division club.

Evesham are keen to keep hold of West following last season’s promotion and it is a huge boost ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round showdown against Rushden and Diamonds.

“I am chuffed to sign for a club I feel is going in the right direction,” West said. “I am still hungry for success and that can be channelled into Evesham United.

“Sometimes with players you have got to lead by example, loyalty is not a word used a lot in football these days. I think it’s important that, as the manager, I send the right signals across to my players.

“The players I have assembled are a smashing bunch to work with and this is the icing on the cake.”

Chairman Jim Cockerton is delighted to have secured West’s services just weeks after the club announced plans to move into a new stadium for the start of next season.

He said: “We are getting closer to getting back to Evesham. The club is ambitious and we need the successful tools to take us forward, that’s the thinking behind it. Plus, he deserves it because he’s done a great job for us.

“We have got every faith in him. He’s the man to take us forward and I think he’s proved that over the last two and-a-half years.”

But Cockerton added: “If the right club came in like Kidderminster Harriers or someone at that level the club would never stand in his way.”
