A TALENTED skier is hoping to get the chance to represent his country on the European slopes.
Adam Lee, a 15-year-old GCSE pupil at Droitwich Spa High School, has been selected as part of the 32-strong squad to attend an English Schools Ski Association training camp in Geilo, Norway, in February.
That squad will then be whittled down to 10 boys and 10 girls to fly the flag for Great Britain at the schools’ European Championships later next year.
Lee is part of the Droitwich school’s team that compete on dry slopes in Gloucester, Telford and Birmingham but the training camp is on snow.
It will feature three disciplines — slalom, giant slalom and a modified faster version of the giant slalom.
However, the teenager, who prefers the faster races, is no stranger to the snow having been introduced to the sport as a child and is aiming to make it his career.
He said: “My parents started me quite young so I have been skiing for 10 years.
“If I can’t get onto the full snow circuit I would like to go out and teach because I will have qualifications for it quite soon. I am working towards teaching on snow.”
