PERSHORE High School student Alex Dowson achieved first place in the blue belt pattern in the Independent Tae-Kwon Do Schools (ITS) Championship.

Dowson was also second in the junior blue tag to black belt 1.61m-plus category sparring.

He said: “It was painful going through all those fights and at some points I was really sure that I wasn’t going to get through but I stuck at it and worked my way through.

“I am now the ITS British champion and it’s just unbelievable.

“It takes a lot of hard work, practice, persistence and training. If you are interested in being the next British champion, just see me.”

He will be defending his title at The Verve UK Open Championships in Kidderminster on December 6.

Dowson trains four times a week with the Crowle Cobras under the tuition of Leo Withers.
