HIGH-flying Kidderminster Harriers begin the FA Trophy road to Wembley tomorrow (3pm) hoping they have not forgotten the route.

Two years ago, Mark Yates guided the Aggborough side to the home of football and, with a resurgent Burscough heading to town, the Harriers boss is all too aware they will be gunning for an upset.

Former Wolves star Andy Mutch has rebuilt the Blue Square North strugglers since taking charge two months ago and they are unbeaten in their last four outings.

But, with Harriers chasing a place back in the Football League, the Lancashire outfit should pose little threat for Yates’ outfit.

“They have picked up a lot since Andy has taken charge,” Yates said. “We have had them watched and know that they are a decent side.

“They’ll want to come here and cause an upset so we have to make sure that our attitude is spot-on.”

Yates and the former England ‘B’ international went head-to-head last year in the FA Cup when Mutch was in charge of Vauxhall Motors.

Harriers ran out 3-1 winners with goals from Matthew Barnes-Homer, Justin Richards and Michael McGrath.

And the Harriers chief will be looking for his two strikers to fire them to glory again with McGrath on loan at Worcester City.

Barnes-Homer overcame a virus earlier in the week to play his part in the 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town that lifted Harriers to third in the Blue Square Premier table.

The win over the Stags, which saw Billy McEwen lose his job at Field Mill, meant Harriers made it three successes in a row and six victories in seven matches.

Harriers go into the Trophy tie full of confidence and have only suffered one defeat at Aggborough, a 1-0 reverse to Barrow at the beginning of October, this term.

“We’ve picked up six big points from our last two games and are desperate to do well in the Trophy,” Yates said.

“We all know the benefits of reaching the final of this competition and that is something we want to do again.”

Harriers will hope this is their last season in the Trophy, otherwise it will mean they have missed out on promotion to the Football League.
