NEW arrival Eoghan Hickey can’t wait to get his teeth into a loan spell with injury-hit Warriors, admitting he feels ‘starved’ of rugby.

The London Irish fly-half has moved to Sixways on a three-month loan and is likely to start tomorrow’s European Challenge Cup clash with Bourgoin at outside-half.

The former Munster stand-off said: “I’m looking forward to coming to Worcester and getting started. I have been starved of rugby in recent times so I just want to get out on the field and show what I am about.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious club and it’s one I jumped at. Obviously it’s bad news for Loki Crichton and I wish him and Matthew Jones all the best with their recoveries, but it’s fortunate for me and I need to take this chance.

“I have spoken to Mike Ruddock about the style he wants to play and we share the same philosophy. He wants to attack and it can be an exciting brand of rugby which will be great to be a part of.

“From fly-half or full-back I want to be orchestrating the games for Warriors. Having faced Worcester, I know what they are about and I believe I can be a big success for them.

“It’s an adventure for me. I’m looking forward to meeting the guys and settling in. I have played against Matthew Jones when I was at Leinster but apart from that it is all new faces. The club have some fantastic players with guys like Chris Latham and Rico Gear. I can only improve and learn as a player from spells with them around me.

“It’s going to be a crash-course for me getting used to the plays, but I plan to get my head down and get up to speed.”
