WARNDON Villages Sharks won the Worcester derby 2-1 at Nunnery Wood Tigers in the Stourport Youth League Under 11s Division One.

Sharks, hit by injury and illness, failed to start at a high tempo and James Ridge headed home a corner to put the determined Tigers ahead.

The home keeper pulled off saves from Liam Dayus and Callum Parker but Sharks continued to look below-par, while Tigers’ midfield shone.

The visitors went for broke at the interval by playing just one at the back and JJ Kealey moved forward into midfield.

Sharks improved but keeper Harry Stanley kept them in the game with several fine saves and Tigers were unlucky not to be further ahead.

But the pressure increased at the other end with Jack Rule and Parker going close before Kealey tapped in the equaliser with eight minutes left from sub James Stevens’ cross.

Sharks’ belief grew and Kealey bagged the winner when his corner went in off a defender at the near post.

Although Tigers played well, especially in the first-half, top-of-the-table Sharks’ character was again impressive.

Joe Bates netted as Nunnery Wood Leopards edged out city rivals Worcester Colts 1-0.

In a close clash, Leopards started better and created chances with flowing football.

Mid-way through the half, Leopards scored after good work from Jack Forman and Ben Lane with Bates finishing in fine style.

They then switched off in the second-half and Colts could have levelled although keeper Toby Wilcox and defender Keiran Smith impressed.

Leopards’ Sam Hayes hit the bar with a free-kick late on and Forman also went close.

In Division Two, Northside Tigers drew 0-0 at Enville Athletic in a game that was far more entertaining than the scoreline suggests.

Tigers’ Luke Obrey missed three chances and Connor Thomasson controlled the midfield. The visitors passed with accuracy and man-of-the-match Jordan Wise went close with a cracking volley.

Enville contributed to the game but created few chances.

UNDER 10s: Warndon Villages Falcons led twice and deserved a draw but lost 4-2 at Worcester Colts in Division Two.

Falcons began better and opened the scoring through Casey-Joe Gormley’s penalty awarded for handball.

Colts were physically stronger and equalised quickly but Falcons edged in front again through Harry Lewis’ well-taken effort.

The hosts levelled for a second time with a deflected long-range effort and then became more of a threat in the second period with two more goals.

UNDER NINES: Madelaine Pitt scored the only goal as Nunnery Wood Sharks triumphed 1-0 at Kinver Colts in Division Two.

Sharks started strongly and Matthew Ellis forced a good save with Aaron Robertson firing the rebound just wide.

They took the lead when Pitt’s powerful corner was deflected over the line.

Sharks then defended well through Jordan Smith and William Downey, while keeper Barney Williams won the man-of-the-match vote.

The visitors continued to dominate the second period with Daniel Harding proving a threat up-front.
