WORCESTER Warriors will attempt to right the wrongs of last weekend’s defeat in Bourgoin and take control of Pool Three in the European Challenge Cup.

The Frenchmen head for Sixways tomorrow afternoon (3pm) hoping they can complete the double over Mike Ruddock’s side and wrestle top spot away from Warriors.

But the former Wales Grand Slam-winning coach is determined not to let that happen.

“It is still very much in our own hands and we are looking forward to performing well in front of our own fans,” said Ruddock. “We let ourselves and our travelling fans down in France and we need to put that right.

“The result means we now face a massive game against a fired-up Bourgoin team who will fancy their chances of winning this pool.

“It is getting tight at the top of the pool but it is ours to lose rather than someone else’s to win as we’ve got three home games left.”

Ruddock has handed a debut to loan signing Eoghan Hick-ey after he joined the injury-hit club for six weeks from Guinness Premiership rivals London Irish.

But, despite the crisis at fly-half, Joe Carlisle has retained his place at number 10, while the Irishman comes in at full-back.

With Hickey taking the number 15 shirt, former All Black legend Rico Gear reverts to the wing following Miles Benjamin’s broken leg.

The ex-New Zealand international knows the French will pose a big threat now that they are in with a shout of winning the pool.

He said: “We’ve heard that Bourgoin are bringing a strong squad so we’re expecting a tough test.

“I was playing a bit out of position at full-back last weekend, but it was good to get my hands on the ball a bit more.

“My natural position is on the wing and I’m looking forward to getting back there.”

Wales international Hal Luscombe is also included in the 22 for the first time since his arrival from Newport-Gwent Dragons in the summer and Sam Tuitupou starts after his trip home to New Zealand.

Ruddock has also switched around his forwards. Greg Rawlinson has been rested, so Will Bowley comes in at second row, while prop Matt Mullan also takes a break, allowing Darren Morris, Chris Fortey and Tevita Taumoepeau to form the front row.

Warriors: Hickey; Gear, Rasmussen, Tuitupou, Fellows; Carlisle, M Powell; Morris, Fortey, Taumoepeau, Bowley, Gillies, Talei, Sanderson (capt), Horstmann. Reps: Horsman, Lutui, Kitchener, Cox, Arr, Grove, Luscombe.
