PLAYERS and coaches from the England blind football team have been helping to establish a Czech Republic side, during a visit to the University of Worcester.
Masaryck University in the Czech Republic is trying to set up a national blind team and turned to the university for advice.
The England team was established at the Henwick Road campus, where coach David Mycock is a sports lecturer and seven of the team’s players either study or work.
Fourteen guests from Masaryck University visited Worcester — seven potential players and seven support workers or coaches.
Mycock said: “Masaryck University is trying to establish a Czech Republic blind football team so they came to visit us to see how we do things.
“We shared our experiences with them and offered guidance, which I think they found very useful.
“England has a very good reputation for blind football.
“We are second in Europe and fifth in the world at the moment.”
The England team is currently training for June’s European Champion-ships in France and the 2010 World Cup.
Katerina Kmentova, from Masaryck University, said: “We are very happy to have had the chance to come to Worcester and to look at how we can develop our blind football.”
