AUSTRALIAN star Chris Latham is compiling a five-page dossier of recommendations on how Worcester Warriors can win more Guinness Premiership matches next season.

Without attributing blame to any individuals, Latham believes he has a duty to his Warriors team-mates to suggest solutions to the side’s inconsistent form which has led to a dozen losses in 20 matches.

“I’ve prepared a five-page document of suggestions to help director of rugby Mike Ruddock when he does his end-of-season review,” Latham said.

“I’ve gone through every aspect of our training, preparation and performances as a team to find ways we can improve.

“We have got the ability to win a lot more games and we need to do that next season.”

Latham has taken Worcester’s Premiership sins on his shoulders to such an extent that he blames himself for Warriors next-to-bottom standing in the table.

The former Wallabies full-back has returned to Aus-tralia to recover from the fractured shoulder which curtailed his season after Warriors’ 14-10 triumph over Gloucester last month.

Surgeons have predicted a nine-week rehabilitation per-iod for Latham but adding to his physical pain is the guilt of Worcester’s failure to reach the top six in the table.

“I blame myself because I’m a senior player and when I arrived at Worcester I promised Mike that I would help the team reach the top six,” said Latham.

“It was one of the two big goals we set ourselves as a team before the start of the season and now we’ve got to put a big cross next to it which is very disappointing.

“We also set ourselves the target of winning the Euro-pean Cup so reaching the semi-finals is a big stride towards that, but we’ve got to improve in the league.

Latham added: “I know it’s a team game but I’m not happy with my own performances because I want to re-pay Mike for the way he’s supported me.”

Latham says self-belief is the only aspect holding back his Warriors team-mates from being considered amongst the best players in Europe.

“To say that Matt Mullan is good enough to play for England is a big understatement,” Latham said. “Matt has got the talent to be one of the best props in the world.

“Joey Carlisle is in my top five of the most naturally gifted players I’ve ever seen. He can be anything he wants to be because he’s that good, while Alex Grove is only at the start of his career but he’s got lots of potential.

“Marcel Garvey and Graham Kitchener have played some outstanding rugby at times but we haven’t seen the best of them yet.”

Latham admits he will be biting his nails when Warriors travel to Bourgoin for the European Challenge Cup semi-final next week.

“I wish I was playing,” he said.
