WORCESTER City fans will have to wait until at least Thursday to learn which league their team will be playing in next season.
A possible switch from Blue Square South has been discussed by the board of directors and manager Richard Dryden.
The Football Association have been informed of the decision but it will not be made public until it is put before the FA’s leagues committee.
A club statement said: “We have analysed and discussed the options in terms of player availability, local derby attractions, effect on home gate, cost of travel, style of football and, importantly, most likely chance of progressing towards the next level. Our conclusion is that there is little to choose between either option.
"The board has made its preferences known to the FA who have assured us that they will take due regard of our input. Our feedback to the FA is in confidence.
"We are specifically requested not to make public our thoughts as part of the FA’s wish to avoid conjecture prior to them finalising the various details in a few day’s time. We will comment when the decision is known.”
