WORCESTER Rowing Club had a successful time at Ironbridge Regatta.
They picked up four wins over the two-day event with many other Worcester crews making their finals.
Ruth Charles, Sara Nemeh Garcia, Vic Coultas, Lottie Wootton and cox Robyn Hill picked up their first win in the women’s novice coxed four. The crew comfortably beat City of Oxford in the final in what was the crew’s first regatta together.
Amy Jones won two events, over the 1,000 metres course and the 500m event.
Competing in the women’s junior 15 single sculls, Jones beat scullers from Bewdley and Evesham to clinch victory and she repeated her success by beating a Bewdley sculler in the 500m race.
Amelia Sutcliffe, Hannah Johnson, Emily Knight, Lizze Jeynes and Jennie Webb won the women’s junior 15 coxed quad. The girls raced in a straight final against North-wich and managed to dead- heat first time round. The crews then had to race again with Worcester coming out on top by just three feet.
Shaun Fisher, Adam Grant, Steve Waldron, Alex Busby and Callum Leatherdale competed in the Intermediate Two category and, in a competitive section containing 14 crews, made the final but were beaten into second place by Bridgnorth.
