RETIRED prop Chris Horsman will not be replaced on Worcester Warriors playing staff says Sixways director of rugby Mike Ruddock.

The salary of the former Welsh international, who was this week forced to quit the game because of a persistent neck injury, was allocated to bring in French front-rower Olivier Sourgens.

Ruddock explained: “We had to take a punt on what the specialist would say about Chris’ injury.

“It looked likely he would be told to finish playing, so we allocated his salary to bring in Olivier. It was not exactly a straight swap, but there isn’t any money left over to bring anyone else in.”

Meanwhile, former British Lions prop Darren Morris, whose Warriors exit is set to be confirmed shortly, has received an offer to ply his trade in France next season.
