HEREFORD United boss John Trewick hopes it won’t be too long before he has added another striker to his squad.
Former Port Vale hit-man Leon Constantine became the first striker to join the Bulls this summer when he put pen to paper on a deal last week.
With the other areas of the Edgar Street club’s squad almost filled — six defenders and eight midfielders have so far signed for the League Two campaign — there is still a dearth of attacking options.
Trewick, though, is working hard to address the situation and is beginning to close in on potential targets with a little over a month to go before the new season.
He said: “There’s nothing definite but I have got a number of phone calls out and one or two players who might come in. I am quite satisfied with what we are doing at the moment.
“We will have to get at least one more striker coming in and I am hopeful we will have signed another in the next 10 days. If not, we will keep looking until the right one becomes available.
“We will probably need another striker on top of that and probably another wide midfield player.”
Today marks the start of the first full week of pre-season training as preparations are stepped up ahead of the opening friendly against Pegasus Juniors at Old School Lane on Thursday.
“The players have come back full of enthusiasm as ever,” Trewick added. “They have worked very hard and I am very pleased with what I have seen so far.”
