BERYL Croft, Gaudet Luce’s first lady captain, drove off the first tee to start a day of celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of the Droitwich Spa-based club’s ladies section.
Fifty ladies, both past and present members, took part in the day.
Of the 50, there were eight former lady captains — one having flown over from Italy especially for the occasion.
The ladies were served with Pimms by club captain Simon Lovering at the 10th tee and the enjoyable event was sponsored by The Joint Clinic, in Droitwich Spa.
The competition was followed by a meal, sponsored by Green Lamb, and the club captain toasted the future of the ladies section.
This year’s lady captain, Jenny Hartley, presented Croft with a memento, while Theresa Freer, the lady captain in 2000, also received a souvenir to commemorate her being the longest-serving female member of the club.
The winners of the competition were Linda Richards, Michelle Povey and Jas O’Hara.
After the tournament, Hartley congratulated all the winners and thanked everyone for taking part.
She also thanked the generous sponsors, on behalf of the ladies, which enabled the memorable celebration to take place.
Everybody at the club is now looking forward to the future of the ladies section at Gaudet Luce with much enthusiasm.
