WORCESTER Nomads came away from Oldswinford with an exciting 83-run win in Division One thanks to a three-wicket haul in the last over by captain Dannie Rees.
Earlier Nomads elected to bat on a flat pitch, where opening bowler Seb Soucup (6-73) posed an immediate threat with his away swingers. He accounted for James Watkins (4), Liam O’Driscoll (15) and Damon Gariff (23), all caught behind.
Rees and Jon Inglis set about repairing the damage and put on 125 for the fourth wicket, when Rees was caught behind for 87 off Soucup.
Inglis scored a valuable 53 until stumped by Jamie Perks, who had eight victims.
Tom Longley (20) and Rio Swapnil (28) took their team to a total of 257 all out.
In their reply Dave Hayward made a solid 52, but a result looked unlikely.
Oldswinford chased the bonus points, however, and with run-outs followed by Rees’ astonishing final over.
Pershore continued their successful season when they defeated Malvern by seven wickets at the Regency Road ion Crusader Worcestershire League Division One.
Malvern opened the batting after winning the toss.
From the outset Malvern batsmen showed their aggressive intentions and reached 50-2 in 11 overs.
Wickets continued to fall with Sam Howell taking three and this contributed to the slowing run rate, but as Andy Cullen (50) held firm, hosts Malvern reached their 100 in the 28th over.
Tom Poole (20) and Carter (29) helped the Malvern score progress but they were unable to accelerate in the closing overs due to Henry Cooper, who took four wickets, again imposing a stranglehold and they eventually reached 200 from their 50 overs.
Joe Taylor (20) and Liam Ridings fired 50 off 10 overs to give Pershore a fine start.
Ridings was then joined by Sam Howell and the pair added 102 for Pershore.
After Ridings was dismissed for 64, David White’s cameo 25 not out saw the visitors with Howell hitting an unbeaten 75, which included 15 fours.
Droitwich returned to winning ways with a straightforward eight-wicket home win over Harborne in Division Two.
The visitors batted first on a flat wicket, but the top order crumbled against the pace of Mike Rogers (2-24) and the control of Karl Goddard (4-59). Martin Woodward continued his excellent form with three wickets as only Reynolds with 38 offered any resistance as they slumped to 128 all out.
After losing Andrew Flet-cher early on, Stuart Bryan and Jerome Connor (69 not out) put on 70 for the second wicket. After Bryan fell for 29, Matt Williams showed his attacking qualities with a quick-fire 28 no.
