Bennett re-signs with Kidderminster

EVER-popular Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Dean Bennett will remain at Aggborough for another season after the 31 year-old penned a new one-year deal.

Bennett needs little by way of re-introduction to anyone familiar with the club — the former Bromsgrove player has made more than 300 appearances in a Harriers shirt over various spells.

After helping the club into the Football League in 2000, he was a regular in League Two for the next four years, before his eventual departure for Wrexham in 2004.

He also spent time with Chester but, after two loan spells back at Aggborough, the ex-West Bromwich Albion youth teamer finally made a permanent return last summer.

Experienced Bennett rolled back the years with some increasingly influential performances in the side last term, turning out 43 times in total.

“I’d had a few phone calls this summer, but it never crossed my mind to leave Kiddy, it was just getting it sorted out,” Bennett admitted.

“I was gutted we didn’t make the play-offs on the last day of the season last year, but the gaffer is working just like he did last pre-season to put a good squad together.

“If we can get a good start then hopefully we can do well.

“Nobody here is working to just make up the numbers in the squad.”
