FORMER Premier League striker Lee Morris is set to turn out for Hereford United in their first pre-season friendly tonight (7.30pm).
More than two months after being relegated from League One, the Bulls travel to Old School Lane to face Hellenic Premier Division Pegasus Juniors ahead of matches against Bristol City on Monday and Wellington next Thursday.
Morris, who scored four goals in English football’s top flight after a £3million move to Derby County 10 years ago, has been training with the Hereford squad this week after failing to get a new deal at Burton Albion.
The 29-year-old, previously with Yeovil, Leicester and Huddersfield, notched seven goals at the Pirelli Stadium, but new Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido opted to release him.
Hereford manager John Trewick said: “Lee is training with us at the moment. He’s come in for a week to 10 days and he’s going to play a couple of games for us.
“I will play everybody for 45 minutes to give all the signed players and the people who are here on trial a game.
“I think the lads are training very well and I am happy with the standard and the attitude they are showing.”
He added: “The more important thing is giving people time on the pitch so, regardless of any result in the first few games, I will be giving players a certain amount of time on the pitch.
“It doesn’t matter who the opposition is. Those first three games are very much a fitness exercise, but we want to play well and win them.”
