THE third Abu Garcia Wychavon Championship qualifier proved fruitful for Wrexham visitor Graham Thomas on the Evesham Town Waters and Hampton Ferry.
Thomas took full advantage of favoured peg one at the top of the Town Waters to run out winner with 6-11-0.
Fishing with chopped worm and caster close in, he landed one decent tench plus eels and perch to secure his place in the star-studded final on August 30 and a shot at the £3,500 top prize.
Former Shakespeare champion Charlie Hague was runner-up with another big tench plus a few small perch at peg 16, also on pole-fished worm.
Third spot went to Worcester’s Mark Newman with a pole and worm-caught 4-11-0 of eels, perch and chub from peg six.
Fourth-placed Richard Hall, who also qualified, landed 3-11-0 of eels at downstream peg 70, while fifth was Rob South with 3-7-8 of eels and perch from peg 55. The next qualifier is on Sunday, July 19 and bookings can be made through Diana Raphael on 01386-442458.
