GOALKEEPER Dean Coleman is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Kidderminster Harriers manager Mark Yates.

Coleman has been at Aggborough since July 2007 but had seen his opportunities limited by the commanding presence of Scott Bevan and then Adam Bartlett.

However, following Bartlett’s move to Hereford United, Yates handed the number one shirt to the 24-year-old for this season and Coleman has grabbed the chance with both hands.

He has played in all 14 Blue Square Premier matches this season and will add to that tally when Harriers visit AFC Wimbledon this afternoon.

Coleman said: “I’ve been here for a few years now and things had been majorly frustrating for me as, being a goalkeeper, there is only one spot that I can fight for.

“The main two goalkeepers that have been here, Scott Bevan and Adam Bartlett, have done well and I had been waiting for a chance that unfortunately never came.

“I had to bide my time at the club and keep my head down and the gaffer always said that my chance would come.

“I’ve been ready to get in and play for quite a while and for him to say in the summer that the chance was mine was fantastic.

“There is no way I’m going to throw it away.”

The keeper, who began his career with Walsall, added: “I’m massively pleased with how things have gone for me so far.

“Of course, I’ve been a bit disappointed with the odd couple of things here and there and times when I’ve felt I could have done better.

“But I haven’t played properly for two years and this is my first real run so that has to be part and parcel of it.”
