KIDDERMINSTER Carolians suffered their first Midlands Two West (South) defeat of the season at the hands of Old Laurentians, going down 25-7.

KCs, who only played in fits and starts, never built up a real head of steam.

With just three minutes on the clock, the home front row were penalised and the Laurentians fly-half knocked over the kick.

They went further ahead when a punt downfield bounced kindly for the visitors’ wing to gather and run in under the posts for a converted try. Five minutes later the lively winger crossed for his second try to extend the Coventry side’s lead to 15-0.

KCs hit back with a Rob Delahay try after a good rolling maul. Andy McLellan added the extras.

The first score of the second-half went to the visitors when they created a big overlap for their left wing to score.

They extended the lead when their centre cut through some flimsy tackling, but missed several kicks at goal to give KC’s a glimmer of hope.

However, a malfunctioning line-out and handling errors did not help KCs’ cause and there was no addition to the score as the game became increasingly scrappy.
