DROITWICH turned in their best performance of the Midlands Two West (South) season, thrashing Bedworth 58-19.

A neat break by Steve Poke found the impressive Rob Dowdeswell, who raced in to open the scoring.

Good running by the ever-threatening Chris Hooper then set up Jack Pons to scorch in and extend the Droitwich lead. Hooper converted.

Bedworth hit back with some intelligent ball-carrying to reduce the lead with two well-taken penalties.

On the stroke of half-time, Hooper slotted a long-range penalty.

The second period saw Droitwich go into overdrive with Phil Horton dominating the line-outs and impressive showings in the loose from Ben Thomas and Alex Saddington.

Steve Duffield broke clear, before linking with Matt Barnes to put James Metcalfe over in the corner.

Hooper succeeded with the tricky conversion and added a penalty shortly afterwards.

Pons then produced the try of the match, gathering in his own half and racing clear to score under the posts.

Horton was next to add a touchdown, before he and Dowdeswell added their second each.

Nice running by substitute Alan Simpson found the tireless Dylan Jones in support to feed Barnes to go over.

Bedworth refused to give in, though, and hit back late on with a try.

The victory leaves the Spa side still unbeaten and sitting second in the league.
