EVESHAM hosted a strong Pinley side and came away with a hard-fought 10-7 victory in Midlands Four West (South).

The home side’s half-backs, Mo Parkinson and Darren Hunter, controlled the game, turning the big Pinley pack backwards.

Halfway through the first period, Evesham got the breakthrough they deserved.

After good driving play by Stu Smart and Luke Matthews, the ball was slipped to centre Andy Robinson who ghosted in to score.

Pinley came out fighting in the second-half and spent long periods in the Evesham half.

With 10 minutes to go, the hosts’ resistance broke and the Pinley flanker crashed over. The conversion made it 7-5 to the visitors.

From a late penalty, scrum-half Chris Evis recycled the ball to Parkinson, who found James Bowen. He drew the defence and sent Jason Smith over for the key score.
