A CONSORTIUM hoping to gain control of Bromsgrove Rovers are still waiting to hear from the administrator.

The Victoria Ground side were formally placed into administrator yesterday at a hearing in the High Court in Birmingham.

With debts in the region of £600,000 and the prospect of a winding up order from former director John Teece, Rovers’ chairman Tom Herbert applied to take the club into administration and that was granted.

But Bromsgrove Sporting Limited, who have tabled a bid in excess of £40,000, have yet to hear from the appointed administrator — Andrew Fender at Sanderlings LLP.

“We hope to hear from the administrator as soon as possible,” said the consortium spokesman Rob McClaren.

“We want to put the club back in the hands of the supporters — no-one person will be able to have more than 11 per cent of Bromsgrove Rovers.”

Should Bromsgrove Sporting be successful in their bid for the club, they will then enter into a Company Voluntary Arrangement and will have eight weeks to form agreements with the creditors.

The Zamaretto League, in which Rovers play in Division One Midlands, have confirmed that the club will be deducted 10 points, a move that places them second from bottom in the table on three points — the same as basement boys Aylesbury United.

Herbert said in a statement on the club’s official wesbite before the administration hearing that he would stand down as chairman. However, when contacted by the Worcester News, he declined to comment.

McClaren said he is keen for his group to take control of the club as soon as possible.

“There is a lot of uncertainty at the moment and that is something that we need to recitify,” he said.

“John Snape has done a fantastic job as manager and has put together a good group of players.

“They need to know that things are being sorted out on the field.”

Administrators Sanderling Limited Liablity Partnership said: “A number of parties have provided expressions of interest in the club. “Any other parties who wish to express an interest in the club should contact the administrator immediately.

“It is the administrator’s present intention that the Club will continue to meet all immediate football obligations.”
