OMBERSLEY rider Karl Miles was overwhelmed after being named Buildbase 500cc solo rider of the year at the Worcestershire Grasstrack Club (WGTC) meeting.

Youngster Miles, who is also a WGTC member, picked up the highest points through all three of the weekend’s meetings to take the upper hand and win the championship trophy.

The main event, the Buildbase 1,000cc right-hand sidecar championship, was again won by Rod Winterburn and his passenger Liam Brown.

Second place went to Rugby-based Mark Cossar and his passenger, his 16-year-old brother Tom. It is has been a thrilling year for WGTC despite difficult track conditions and bad weather hampering the first two rounds they held.

For the final round of the Buildbase Championship, the weather stayed fine and allowed some competitive racing from all classes to entertain the crowd.

A WGTC spokesman said: “We would like to thank everyone who have supported us this year and look forward to seeing you all next year for another series in partnership with Buildbase.

“We thank all the local spectators in supporting the meeting.”
