WARRIORS centre Alex Grove has been called up to the full Scotland squad for Andy Robinson’s first game in charge against Fiji.

The 21-year-old, who has risen through the ranks at Sixways from academy prospect to first-choice outside-centre, is in line to feature in the opening autumn international at Murrayfield on Saturday, November 14.

Grove, who has made 26 appearances for Warriors and scored nine tries, impressed as part of the IRB Nations Cup-winning Scotland ‘A’ squad Robinson took to Romania in the summer shortly after his appointment.

He will link up with the 32-man squad for a three-day training camp at St Andrews on Monday, November 2.

Director of rugby Mike Ruddock said: “It is great news for Alex and for Worcester Warriors. He burst onto the scene last year with a man-of-the-match display at Wasps and has continued to prove he has what it takes to play at the highest level of the game. This is recognition of his ability and potential.”

Meanwhile, Worcester duo Marcel Garvey and Olivier Sourgens have both failed in their bid to be fit for Saturday’s Guinness Premiership encounter with Harlequins at Sixways (3pm).

Ruddock hoped wing Garvey (broken hand) and prop Sourgens (knee) would be fit but they will not be ready until the trip to Newcastle on Sunday, November 1.
