STOURPORT Hockey Club put their disappointing loss against Old Georgians to the back of their minds with a convincing 4-1 win over Whitchurch.

Their visitors had sought to postpone the England Hockey League Men’s Conference West game, citing four of their squad being on Wales duty, but failed and Stourport took full advantage.

They enjoyed long periods of possession but conceded an opener to Rhys Gowman from a short corner.

But Stourport were a different side in the second-half and Dave Westhead levelled on 52 minutes.

Andrew Langlands scored two goals in as many minutes before Phil Lashford put the game beyond Whitchurch.

Allan Moss (2) and John Yates helped Stourport Sevenths to a 3-2 win at Lodge Park in the Fathom League.

Meanwhile, Stourport Women remain third in Midlands Division One despite a 5-2 beating of North Staffs.

Rene Johnson tore through the defence to put the Wyre Forest side ahead but the defence, especially keeper Sally Smith, had to be alert.

Their opponents hit back only for Jodi Vincent to regain the lead.

North Staffs levelled again before the break but Stourport ran away with the clash in the second period through goals from Kate Miller and Sarah Cavendish (2).

They also defeated Solihull Blossomfield 5-0 in the National Trophy with Hannah Goss, Sophie Harris, Liz Cooke, player-of-the-match Cavendish and Jade Marshall-Walker on target.

The seconds won 3-2 at Kettering Seconds in the Midlands Conference South.

Stourport fell behind but levelled 10 minutes into the second-half through Caroline Sidell.

Kettering went ahead again but Sidell and Chloe Marshall-Walker grabbed the points with Holly Lashford player-of-the-match.

In the Worcestershire League, Stourport Thirds lost their unbeaten record.

They went down 6-2 at new Division Two leaders Bromsgrove Seconds with Rhiannon Linnington-Payne and Georgi Hingley scoring.

The fourths saw off King’s Heath Pickwick Seconds 5-0 in Division Three with player-of-the-match Teri Baron bagging all the goals.
