WORCESTER Wolves have been thrown into turmoil after cancelling six players contracts and the resignation of head coach Chuck Evans.
The University of Worcester-based British Basketball League side were set to travel Glasgow Rocks on Sunday, however, it is unsure that the club will be able to fulfil the fixture.
The Wolves are claiming that six of the squad, who they have yet to name, went on an unauthorised strike after a dispute with Evans over comments made in a post-match analysis session.
After a formal investigation, the Wolves felt that they had little alternative but to end the six careers with the club.
Evans was also subjected to disciplinary action from the club and he decided to resign.
Wolves chairman Roger Clarke said in a statement: “It has been a very difficult week. We were left with no alternative but to terminate the contracts of players who refused to play for the Wolves.
“Coach Evans accepted disciplinary action but decided that in the best interests of the club he would resign from his position with immediate effect.
“The club is now in talks with the BBL and hopes to turn out a full squad as soon as possible.”
