STOUPORT Men went into the mid-season break with a fine 3-2 win against England Hockey League Men’s Conference West leaders Bath Bucanneers.
The visitors came into the match having won all nine of their previous league games and looked like extending that record when, despite early Stourport possession, counter-attacked and took the lead through Tim Davenport.
Bath extended their lead before half-time through Johnny Kinder.
Stourport hit back in the second-half with goals from Mark Moss, Phil Lashford and Matt Fairburn.
The sevenths lost 5-3 against Bromsgrove. Nick Harwood (two) and David Bedford were on target.
Jen Peniket and Chloe Marshall-Walker both scored four goals as Stourport Women’s Thirds hammered Tenbury Seconds 11-0 in Worcestershire Division Two. Stourport dominated their hosts from the hit-back and led 5-0 at half-time.
The hosts continued to pressure after the break and completed the rout through Rhiannon Linnington-Payne and Georgi Hingley’s double.
Jodi Vincent scored a first-half winner as the firsts defeated Solihull Blossomfield 1-0 in Midland Division One.
The team continued their progress in the National Trophy 24 hours later with a 3-1 victory at Hinckley.
Stourport’s first goal came from Liz Cooke but the hosts drew level after the break.
Sarah Cavendish and Caroline Sidell put the match beyond Hinckley.
The seconds were thrashed 7-2 at Warwick University to stay fifth in the Midland Conference South.
Stourport conceded four goals in the first 15 minutes and had fallen 5-0 behind at half-time.
The visitors changed their formation in the second-half and managed goals from Holly Lashford and Shelley Tromans.
Kate Bailey scored twice and Denise Brandon was also on target as the fourths won 3-1 against Redditch Seconds to consolidate second place in Worcestershire Division Three.
