MALVERN Town returned from Coleshill Town on the wrong end of a drubbing.

The Worcestershire side, who fielded a very young side, were without captain Paul Edwards, who with the suspended Bryan Craven, was in Barcelona and keeper Lewis Skyers, who was playing with the England blind team.

Paul Ireland and Ashley Pardoe also dropped out with flu, while Craig Williams, Craig Brown and Mike Rhodes were also all unavailable.

Coleshill took the lead in the 14th minute when Barry McLean, the Malvern keeper, saved a shot, but the rebound found Chris Gummery who tapped the ball home.

In the 26th minute, Marvin Johnson grabbed the first of his hat-trick after the ball had been played across the box.

Malvern were unable to get their flowing football going and were guilty of giving the ball away, but the one time they got it together, it led to a goal.

Mason Mansfield threaded a wonderful ball through to Craig Selby, keeper Craig Johnson could only parry his shot and the ball fell to Conor O’Callaghan, who slotted home.

Malvern were pushing for an equaliser before the break, but Coleshill counter-attacked and Matty Robinson scored.

This third goal knocked the stuffing out of Malvern and they were unable to get their game together.

Malvern kept the scoreline at 3-1 until the 65th minute, but two goals from Marvin Johnson — the second in the 76th minute — following good Coleshill wing play secured the points for the hosts.

Gummery grabbed his second goal of the game with three minutes left and Robinson bagged the seventh — and his second — in injury time with Malvern just wishing for the whistle to bring play to an end.
