Hobbs scores five in Kempsey romp


KEMPSEY moved to within six points of the top of the Worcester Sunday League Premier Division.

Tom Hobbs was their shooting star, netting five times as they brushed aside Droitwich Spa 7-0.

Perrywood continued their recent run of good form, thrashing Warndon Athletic 8-0.

Jamie Long hit a hat-trick with Nick Butler adding a brace.

In Division One, The Pear Tree are only three points behind leaders CMB Sports after a narrow 3-2 win at Bridge Rangers.

CMB had an excellent 2-1 win at higher-graded Powick in the Katherine Rayer Cup.

Richard Holtham netted four times as Coppertops crushed Glovers Needle 5-1 in Division Two.

Hallow Village won 5-2 at Anchor Falcons with Darren Lane scoring twice for Hallow and James Lush doing likewise for Falcons.

In Division Four, Toby Attwood netted a treble in Worcester City Wanderers’ 4-3 victory over Inter Town.

Andrew Harvey bagged a brace for Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves, who beat Powick ‘B’ 4-2, as did Jamie Lee of Lakes Forest Reserves, who lost 4-3 at home to Hornets Reserves.

A single strike from James Michie gave Vaults victory against Hangover.

The quarter-finals of the Bayliss Cup on Saturday saw GDL Saturday go through 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 scoreline at the end of extra-time.

Carl Hobbs bagged two for Martley Spurs, who won 3-1 at Perrywood. VBL Sports are also through with Chris Newman and Gordie Beauchamp on target as they beat University of Worcester 2-0.

In the Worcestershire FA Sunday Premier Cup quarter-finals, Mark Owen came off the bench to score twice as Martley Spurs drew 3-3 with Grange Athletic. But Grange went through 4-3 in the resulting penalty shoot-out.

Arrow 2000 lost their tie 3-2 against Black Horse.

The Nursing Sunday Junior Cup saw AFC Mazak win their third-round clash with Westbury Celtic Reserves 3-1 as Shane Smith scored twice.

Pan Banks grabbed a hat-trick and Ray Woods a brace as AFC Nunnery Wood Colts Reserves beat higher-ranked Wessie 5-0 in the Minor Cup.
