Snodsbury title defence denied


HOLDERS Upton Snodsbury were surprisingly dumped out of the Evesham Mechanical Services Knock-out Cup by Mickleton Rangers in the semi-final.

Rangers led at the interval and, despite a goal back from Aldington, they went on to win 3-1.

In the final, they will face Bretforton Old Boys, who comfortably dispatched Stour Excelsior 7-1 with Jamie Clarke scoring five goals.

Eckington reached the final of the Express-Funding Mick Godwin Cup with a five-goal win over Fish & Anchor with S Mather (2), Bostock and McDonald among the scorers.

Inkberrow remain bottom of Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division One following a seven-goal defeat at Red Horse as Duncan (2), Sims, Pinkney, Beattie, Trotman and Knight scored.

Evesham WMC picked up a valuable 2-2 draw at Crowle, while Broadway United won 3-0 at Ambassador.

Cidermill moved within a win of promotion from Division Two after goals from Stanley (2) and Heritage defeated Pinvin United.

Third-placed Tesco United slipped up 2-0 at Offenham Rovers, who scored through Jordan and Ireland.

Alderton recorded a much-needed 5-1 win over Vauxhall but Bredon are adrift at the bottom following a 5-1 defeat at Honeybourne Gate Inn for whom Worthington (2), Ballard, Cook and Medley scored.

Division Three leaders Ashton dropped points for a second week, being held 1-1 at Broadway United Reserves.

Second-placed Anchor Fladbury won 7-0 at Tewkesbury Town with Andy Clements netting four goals.

Chris Attwood scored twice to give Badsey Recreation an interval lead before Lenches Lions struck back with goals from Cotterill (2), Stanley, Nevin and Booth.

Northway won 1-0 at Wickhamford Sports, while WMK defeated Defford/Besford United 7-3.

Black Bear had to come from behind to defeat Pebworth 3-1 in Division Four.

Wellan and Bearcroft braces helped Bengeworth Sports overcome Ambassador Reserves 8-3, while Stour Excelsior Reserves and George and Dragon shared four goals.
