STOURPORT’S attempt to complete the double over Whitchurch in England Hockey League Men’s Conference West backfired badly.
They failed to follow up a 4-1 win earlier in the season, losing 5-0 and slipping into the relegation play-off place.
Whitchurch included their four Welsh internationals this time, while Stourport missed four key players.
The visitors’ keeper Ben Dudley kept the score down to 3-0 at half-time.
Stourport have big clashes this weekend against the University of Birmingham and Plymouth Marjons.
Player-of-the-match Jon Styzaker (2), Josh Martin and Matt Nichols scored as Stourport Sevenths won 4-2 at Walsall in the Fathoms League.

The seconds got the better of Kettering 4-3 in the Midlands Conference South.
Melissa Kennedy opened the scoring from open play before a brace from Caroline Sidell and a Kettering reply ensured a 3-1 lead.
A Kettering strike early in the second-half worried Stourport but Jade Marshall-Walker restored their two-goal advantage before another effort from the visitors.
The thirds went down 2-0 to title rivals Bromsgrove Seconds in Worcestershire League Division Two to bring their unbeaten run to an end.
Stourport’s Fourths saw off King’s Heath Pickwick Seconds 2-0 in Division Three with Kathy Doyle and Kate Bailey scoring.
