MANAGER Paul West says he will take the blame if Evesham United get relegated from the Zamaretto League Premier Division.
The Robins have not won in 11 matches and slipped to just one point above the drop-zone with 13 games to go following defeats at Oxford City and Nuneaton Town.
Next up is a clash against county rivals Stourbridge at St George’s Lane on Saturday (3pm) as Evesham look to arrest their slide.
West appreciates the supporters’ frustration at United’s current predicament but wants them to get behind the team.
He said: “The supporters should take their frustrations out on me. I will take full responsibility for this season.
“We have 13 cup finals left now. I can understand everybody’s frustrations. The supporters have to back the players. We’re on a run that is nothing short of horrendous.
“We’ve all got to stick together and it’s my job to get the players’ confidence back.
“We will battle harder and harder for that elusive win. It’s frustrating. I’m working overtime to see if I can improve the side. We’ve just got to keep going.”
He added: “The performances have not been that bad recently.
“We deserved something out of the Oxford game, conceded two sloppy goals and didn’t take our chances.
“We are right in it after we dropped a place following the Oxford defeat. We’re hoping one win could turn our form and it will come soon.
“I still have faith in the players at this football club and we’ve just got to keep going.”
Keeper Nathan Vaughan is set to return for the Stourbridge match after being unavailable on Tuesday.
Ex-Worcester City defender Kevin Spencer is back after serving a three-match ban.
