WORCESTER’S Rob Whiteman tackled top darts professional Ronnie Baxter on the stage before a round of the Premier League.

Whiteman, nicknamed ‘Fight or Flight’, won a knock-out tournament at Rileys, Worcester, to earn the clash with the former Evesham player and world number six.

The 40-year-old, who turns out for Rileys ‘A’, said: “It was a real thrill being up on stage and playing Ronnie.

“Even though I lost to him, it was great fun. Having the chance to play against such a great player has encouraged me to keep on playing and practicing.

“I would love to be able to come back and play on stage again someday.”
