VBL and Spurs meet in final


THE Worcester League’s Bayliss Cup final will be between VBL Sports and Martley Spurs.

VBL booked their place with an 8-1 demolition of GDL Saturday as Paul Bennett cracked a hat-trick, his fourth in successive games, with Dave D’Amore adding a brace.

Martley won their semi-final 4-2 at Powick with goals from Adie Wooller, Simon Rawle, Andrew Martin and Carl Smith. Ricky Buckland scored both Powick goals.

In Sunday League Division Four, leaders Blackpole Sports suffered only their second defeat of the season, 2-0 at VFC Keyz with Dave Reynolds grabbing both goals.

Second-placed AFC Nunnery Wood Colts Reserves thrashed GDL Athletic Reserves 6-0.

Vaults won 6-2 at Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves with Josh Brunger notching a treble and Graham Jones a double. Marc Birt scored both Eagles goals.

Hangover won 3-2 at Inter Town as Mark White fired a hat-trick for Hangover with Mark Wilks scoring twice for Inter Town.

An amazing game at Coppertops in Division Two saw visitors Whitehall eventually win 6-4.

Earlier, the hosts drew level after being 4-0 down as Josh Homans netted four times for Whitehall.

There were braces for Dave Jenkinson of Hornets, who won 3-1 at AFC Nunnery Wood Colts, and Steve Coopey as VBL Sports beat Old Vigornians 3-0.

In Division Three, Blue Star extended their lead at the top to four points as they hammered Perdiswell 7-1.

George Martin scored four times to take his tally for the season past 50 and Matthew Tudor added a brace.

Second-placed Keyz04 went down 2-0 at home to Worcester Bosch with Darren Tafft netting both goals.

Mike Jeffries found the net four times and Nathan Stone twice as AFC West Midlands beat Beauchamp Victoria 7-1.

Lower Wick Sports won 4-2 at Arrow 2000 Reserves with Darren Humphries and Barry Sargeant both notching doubles for the visitors and Geraint Harris doing likewise for the hosts.

Josh Hunt scored twice for Goodrest Juniors, who won 4-1 at Wychbold RBL.

Division One leaders The Pear Tree beat Malvern Radar 2-1 with strikes from David Cape and Andrew Seymour.

Lakes Forest’s title challenge took a knock as they suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at Malvern Rangers.

Oliver Endacott and Rob Cullen were on target for the town side.

In the Saturday Division, Shane Smith bagged a brace as Hallow WMC won 4-0 at Northway.

The season has been extended by three weeks to ease a fixture backlog.

Bad weather decimated the programme and teams face a race to catch up with their games.

The campaign was due to finish on Sunday, May 2, but will now go through to Sunday, May 23, although evening matches will still be needed.
