MALVERN racing driver Katharine Impey has been earmarked by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) as one to watch for the future.
Impey was picked for the MSA’s academy scheme set up to coach talented young drivers who could be the champions of tomorrow.
She is competing in the BRSCC Formula Three Cardinus Championship series this year in her Mugen Honda-powered Dallara F302.
Impey’s season starts on the weekend of April 10 and 11 at Silverstone when she will be the sole woman on the grid but that will not faze her.
She said: “It’s a blast racing against the lads. Obviously, it can be hard being in the minority. But I, for one, have never had any problems with my fellow competitors.
“The MSA support and guide me in many areas. The academy programme helps to further my education in motorsport and also offers me guidance on and off the track.
“For example, they teach me how to successfully promote myself and raise sponsorship, offer advice on my fitness and diet regimes and coach me on my mental approach to the sport.”
Impey joined television presenter Louise Goodman and other female racers at Silverstone for International Women’s Day recently.
